Do you wear a watch or a ring to track your sleep? Many people do. It feels like a smart way to make sure you’re getting enough rest. But experts are now saying that these gadgets might actually be making your sleep worse.

There is a new trend called "sleepmaxxing." It means trying every trick in the book to get the perfect night of rest. People buy expensive trackers to watch their "sleep scores." They worry about how many times they woke up or how much deep sleep they got.

Here is the problem: stressing about your sleep is the fastest way to stay awake.

Doctors are finding that people are becoming anxious because of their trackers. If a gadget tells you that you had a "bad" night, you start your day feeling tired and worried—even if you actually felt fine when you woke up. This worry builds up, and it makes it harder to fall asleep the next night. It becomes a loop of stress.

Experts say most of these trackers aren't even 100% accurate. They aren't as good as the tools doctors use in real sleep clinics. Yet, we trust them like they are doctors.

So, what should you do instead?

1. Stop checking your "sleep score" every morning. Your body knows better than a piece of plastic on your wrist.

2. Keep things simple. If your room is too hot, find a cheap way to cool it down, like using a fan or opening a window. You don't need a fancy device to tell you it's hot.

3. Stop "sleepmaxxing." Trying to force yourself to have a perfect night is just adding pressure.

If you wake up feeling okay and have enough energy for your day, you are probably doing just fine. Don't let a gadget turn your bedtime into a stressful project. Sometimes, the best way to get a good night's sleep is to just turn off the tracker and stop worrying about it.
