A woman has been found guilty of fraud after she pretended to be a 12-year-old child.
Though she was in her late 30s at the time, the woman successfully convinced a family that she was a young girl. She even went as far as living with a foster family while maintaining the lie.
It is a strange and upsetting story. Authorities say the woman used this deception to gain housing and support by acting as a child.
Now, the court has officially convicted her of fraud. Fraud is when you trick someone on purpose to get something of value or to hurt them.
This case has drawn a lot of attention because of how long she was able to keep up the act. The legal proceedings have now concluded, confirming that her actions were against the law.
