A serious bus accident has occurred in Kenya, leaving at least 22 people dead. Some reports suggest the number of victims could be as high as 24.
The crash happened on the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway. This is the same road where another fatal accident took place only three weeks ago. In that earlier crash, 17 people lost their lives.
Local news sources are reporting on the heartbreaking final moments of some of those on board, including the last phone calls made by passengers before the accident happened.
Authorities are looking into the cause of the crash. The area has now seen two major tragedies on the same highway in less than a month, raising concerns about safety on this stretch of road.
Our thoughts are with the families of those who died in this terrible event.
