The war between Ukraine and Russia is still very active. As of October 25, 2026, we have reached day 1,704 of the fighting.

New reports show that Ukraine has managed to strike targets more than 1,550 miles inside Russia. This is a very long distance, showing that Ukraine has the reach to hit deep behind Russian lines.

At the same time, there is movement on the front lines. Ukraine has made gains on the Oleksandrivka axis. This is a specific area of the battlefield. These gains were enough to force Russia to move some of its best fighters—their elite marine units—to that area to try and stop the advance.

Experts at the Institute for the Study of War are keeping a close watch on these events. They say that a Russian victory is still not a sure thing. While Russia has a lot of resources, the fight is far from over and the outcome remains uncertain.

Recent summaries of the war show that both sides are still dealing with the daily realities of a long, grinding conflict. As we move toward the end of October, the situation remains tense, with neither side showing signs of backing down.
