Chinese President Xi Jinping is currently visiting Egypt. This is his first trip there in ten years. While he is there, he is sending a clear message to the United States.
Xi wants to change how things work in the Middle East. Right now, the United States has a lot of influence in that part of the world. Xi is trying to build a new "security framework," which is a fancy way of saying he wants to create a new set of rules and partnerships that rely more on China and less on America.
By visiting Egypt, China is trying to get a stronger foothold in the region. Experts say this is a direct challenge to American power. Xi wants these countries to look toward Beijing for help and cooperation instead of always turning to Washington.
This visit is also happening just before Xi is scheduled to travel to the United States. It shows that China is not afraid to push back against American influence while trying to make new friends and business deals in the Middle East.
