Ukraine is celebrating its Independence Day today. It is a big holiday for the country. To show they are still on Ukraine’s side, leaders from across Europe traveled to the capital city, Kyiv.
They went there to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The visit is meant to send a clear message to Russia. It shows that Ukraine’s friends have not forgotten about them even though the fighting has been going on for a long time.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is still happening. Many people are still living under the threat of attacks. Despite the danger, the leaders wanted to be there in person to stand with the Ukrainian people on their special day.
This visit is a sign of solidarity, which is just a fancy way of saying they are standing together as a team. The world is watching to see how the war moves forward. For now, Ukraine is marking its freedom with help from its allies.
