Israel has started a large military operation in the West Bank city of Hebron. This follows a recent deadly attack on Israeli soldiers.
Because of the violence, the Israeli military has put the area under a strict lockdown. This means people’s movements are very restricted. Reports say that soldiers have turned some private homes into temporary military posts.
Around 2,000 people have been forced to leave their homes because of this operation. Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, have spoken about the situation. The Prime Minister has hinted that there may be more actions coming for the Palestinian Authority, calling it a "big surprise."
In addition to the lockdown in Hebron, the military plans to close crossings in the West Bank. This is happening right as Israel gets ready for an upcoming election.
For now, the situation on the ground remains tense. Families in Hebron are dealing with the impact of the military presence and the restrictions on their daily lives.
