Nepal is facing a terrible disaster. Huge floods have hit the country, causing destruction that will cost about $2.56 billion to fix.

The damage is everywhere. Bridges have been washed away, cutting off entire towns. In places like Devighat, people are now forced to use dangerous ziplines just to get across the water and stay connected to the outside world.

Even worse, many people are still missing. Because their bodies haven't been found, grieving families are now holding symbolic cremation ceremonies. This is a traditional way for them to say goodbye to their loved ones when a funeral with a body isn't possible.

Health experts are warning that the country’s health system simply wasn't ready for a disaster this big. Hospitals are struggling to handle the fallout from the flooding, which has made it hard for people to get the care they need.

This is a heartbreaking time for Nepal. Between the lost homes, the broken roads, and the families who are still waiting for news of their relatives, the path to recovery looks very long and very difficult.
