Things are getting worse in the Black Sea. Russia has blocked Ukraine from moving its grain and food products out by ship. This is a big problem for a few main reasons.
First, this is hurting Ukraine’s farmers. They have tons of food to sell, but they can't get it out of the country to the people who need it. If they can't sell their current crop, they won't have the money to plant anything for next year.
Second, this is a global issue. Many countries around the world rely on grain from this part of the world to make food like bread. When that food can't leave Ukraine, there is less food available, and prices go up for everyone.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russia is not interested in a ceasefire to let these ships pass safely. Meanwhile, the Kremlin says they are trying to make sure their own grain exports are not hurt by the fighting, even while they block Ukraine's access.
Experts are worried that if this continues, it will cause a major food shortage. The bottom line is that a war happening in one place is now making it harder and more expensive for people to buy groceries all over the world.
