Ukraine is running into a serious money problem. Right now, the country is facing a gap of roughly €23 billion to pay for its defense needs.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been asking allies for more support. He says Ukraine specifically needs €27 billion just to keep its air defense systems running. These systems are vital for protecting cities and people from incoming missiles and drone strikes.

While the European Union recently stepped in and approved €6.1 billion for Ukraine’s military, it is not enough to cover the massive shortfall. Experts are warning that expressions of solidarity from other countries are nice, but they don't pay the bills needed to keep the war effort going.

Despite these money troubles, Ukraine is trying to boost its own production. President Zelenskyy says that Ukraine can now build 200 to 300 long-range drones every single day. These drones are powerful enough to fly up to 3,000 kilometers, which helps Ukraine hit targets further away without relying entirely on outside weapons.

Even with this local production, the total cost of the war remains very high. Without more cash from international partners, Ukraine will struggle to afford the supplies it needs to keep fighting.
