Things are getting worse in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia just said it plans to step up its attacks on Ukrainian cities.
This decision comes right after Kyiv said it would keep targeting Russian oil refineries. These refineries are factories that turn oil into fuel for cars and military vehicles. By hitting them, Ukraine is trying to hurt Russia’s ability to pay for and run its war machine.
Because of these threats, Russia is telling foreign diplomats—people who work for other countries—that they should leave Kyiv immediately.
At the same time, the United States is trying to get both sides to sit down and talk about peace. They are making a fresh push to get Russia and Ukraine to stop fighting.
However, the fighting on the ground is not slowing down. The Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russian military is continuing its offensive campaign, and they are specifically targeting power and city infrastructure again.
Russian leaders are also upset after a recent interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and they have cited this as another reason for their decision to hit back harder.
Right now, the situation remains very dangerous for people living in the area as both sides increase their attacks.
