The African National Congress, known as the ANC, is having a very hard time. For a long time, they have been the main party in South Africa. But right now, things are changing.
With 80% of the votes counted, it is clear the party is losing. People are voting for them much less than they used to. They are not getting the big wins they are used to having.
This is a big deal for the country. In many of the big cities, no single party has enough votes to be in total control. This means parties will have to work together to run the government, which is called a coalition. These deals can be messy and hard to manage.
Experts say the ANC is under a lot of pressure. They have been in charge for a long time, but many people are unhappy with how things are going. They feel the party is losing its way.
Now, the ANC has to figure out how to stop this slide. If they can’t fix things, they might keep losing support. For now, the country is waiting to see what happens as the last few votes are finished and new leaders try to form governments in the cities.
