Leaders from several countries met at the BRICS summit recently. The main goal was to talk about lowering tension in the Middle East.
Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held discussions aimed at fixing their relationship. Leaders are calling this a move to “turn the page” on their past problems.
India’s leader, Narendra Modi, also spoke with Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian. Modi said it is very important to keep the shipping lanes safe. He wants to make sure people who work on ships are protected while they do their jobs.
President Pezeshkian had a clear message about his country's relationship with the United States. He said that Iran will not give in to the U.S. no matter the pressure.
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump was asked what he thought about these meetings between the Gulf countries and Iran. He told reporters that he really does not care about these specific talks.
Overall, the summit showed a mix of countries trying to find common ground for peace, while big disagreements between major world powers still stay very much alive.
