Ukraine launched a huge drone attack against Russia early Wednesday morning. It is being called one of the biggest attacks on the Moscow area in two years of fighting.

Russian officials say their air defense systems shot down hundreds of drones across the country. However, some still got through. Reports show that a fuel depot in the Moscow region caught fire after being hit.

War bloggers in Russia say that two people were killed during the attacks. The drones were spotted all over the region, and people living nearby shared photos and videos of explosions lighting up the night sky.

This is a major escalation in the ongoing conflict. Ukraine is increasingly using these long-distance drones to strike targets deep inside Russian territory, focusing on important spots like oil hubs and military bases.

Russia says they stopped almost 900 drones, but the scale of the attack shows that Ukraine is trying hard to bring the war home to the Russian capital. Officials are still checking to see the full extent of the damage caused by the fires and the blasts.
