The European Union is trying to figure out how to spend its money for the next few years, and it is causing a big argument. Ireland, which is currently leading the talks, put forward a plan to cut €141 billion from the budget.

Ireland hoped this move would make the countries that are very careful with money—often called the “frugals”—happy. These countries want to make sure the EU doesn't spend more than it can afford.

However, not everyone is satisfied. Germany, one of the biggest and most powerful countries in the group, has warned that these cuts are simply not enough. They want even deeper savings.

Meanwhile, the plan is getting criticism from all sides. Other countries are frustrated with Ireland's proposal for different reasons, making it very hard to reach a deal before the end of the year.

Essentially, the EU is in a race to agree on a new budget plan. With Germany pushing for more cuts and other members unhappy with the current math, it is becoming a very messy situation for the leaders involved.
