Iran is currently looking at new "concrete proposals" regarding its nuclear program. Officials from the country confirmed they are reviewing these plans, though they did not share many details about what the proposals actually say.
Reports show that Iran sent one of these proposals to the United States using Qatar as a middleman. This is a common way for the two countries to talk when they don't have direct diplomatic ties.
However, the mood remains tense. While talks are happening, they seem to be stuck. Sources say the U.S. is not convinced by Iran's recent plans regarding security in the Hormuz Strait. At the same time, the U.S. is sending more military forces to the region.
Recent military strikes have further cooled any hopes for a quick deal to lower tensions. Iran’s officials have played down the possibility of a major breakthrough right now, especially while both sides are trading complaints and military maneuvers.
For now, both countries are still talking, but they are very far apart on the big issues. The situation remains unstable as both sides watch each other closely.
