Ukraine is continuing its campaign against Russia’s energy industry. Even after news of a deal between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin surfaced, Ukrainian forces launched new strikes on major oil hubs deep inside Russia.
Ukrainian officials confirmed that their drones hit two oil refineries. These are the factories where Russia turns raw oil into fuel for cars and tanks. Reports from the ground indicate that these strikes used new, upgraded drone technology. This allows the drones to fly further and hit harder than before.
One specific target was an oil facility in the Samara region. This is not the first time Ukraine has hit this area. By targeting these sites, Ukraine is trying to hurt Russia’s ability to pay for the war and supply its military.
Experts say these attacks are a clear message from Kyiv. President Zelensky is signaling that he will keep using his strongest cards to fight back, regardless of outside political deals. He is showing that Ukraine’s military plans are still moving forward.
The strikes come at a tense time. Many are watching to see how the agreement between Trump and Putin might change the course of the war. For now, the fighting on the ground continues just as it did before.
